Please Congratulate our February student of the month Carley Thurman!

Yesterday Sean Flottman, AKA (DabsWellington), check his YouTube channel for metal artwork and student coordinator for American Welding Academy (Union, MO) came to visit HCTC Welding Tech program. He spoke to students about the shortage of welders currently and the projected shortfall in the next 4 years of nearly 400,000 welding positions to fill due to a retiring workforce. Many students were directed away from the trades programs since the early 90's and pushed towards a college education. Whether their degree paid off for them or it didn't; the one thing for sure is that it has created a huge demand for skilled craftsmen in the construction and maintenance industry. Sean explained the training program AWA provides and student job placement after training. He also spent time in the shop with our welding doing some TIG welding on stainless and aluminum welding techniques. We appreciate his time and American Welding Academy for sharing the information.

HCTC health services students competed in a nursing competition on Friday. HCTC won with team: Jenna McVeigh, Logan Gosney, Jaelyn Chandler, and Rylea Wiebold. There were 13 teams competing.
