Enrollments and Scheduling
To enroll at Hannibal Middle School you must have a completed Enrollment Packet turned into the front office. Once all materials have been collected/received, your students HMS Counselor will contact you to determine what elective courses your student would like to take as well as to set up a time for you and your student to come to HMS for a meeting and/or a tour. Second Step Curriculum
The counselors will begin utilizing the Second Step curriculum in all HMS classrooms this 2018-2019 school year. Second Step is a first of its kind Social Emotional Learning curriculum that's modern, web-based, and responsive to the needs of today's students and educators. It utilizes the latest research in adolescent brain development and social psychology and it's been piloted through multiple classrooms across the country. The result is a program that doesn't just help kids do better in school. It helps them do better in life. The counselors will then teach advisory lessons related to each topic monthly in the students Social Studies classrooms.

Pirate to Pirate Peer Mentoring
The HMS Counseling Department will be implementing a new peer mentoring program this 2018-2019 school year. Peer mentors will be utilized in a variety of ways but two of the most important ways will be helping a new student to HMS transition smoothly as well as mentoring other, more than likely younger, students at HMS. Group Counseling
HMS Counselors offer small group counseling throughout the year. They've covered a variety of topics in the past including Grief and Loss, Social Studies, 6th Grade Transitioning, Anxiety, and Anger Management. The topics they cover vary each year depending on what the specific need is at that time.
